Abstract

Metal-ceramic crowns remain among the most widely used restorations in orthopedic dentistry due to their favorable mechanical properties, durability, and acceptable esthetic characteristics. Successful prosthetic rehabilitation requires restoration of oral function, preservation of surrounding tissues, and achievement of satisfactory esthetic outcomes. Clinical evaluation of metal-ceramic restorations is important for assessing long-term treatment success and patient satisfaction. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of metal-ceramic crowns in orthopedic dental rehabilitation and determine their influence on functional and esthetic outcomes. The results demonstrated that metal-ceramic restorations provide reliable and predictable clinical performance with a high level of patient satisfaction.

Restoration of damaged or missing teeth remains one of the main objectives in orthopedic dentistry. Fixed prosthetic restorations improve chewing function, speech, facial appearance, and psychosocial well-being. Although modern ceramic systems and digital technologies are increasingly used, metal-ceramic crowns continue to represent a standard treatment option because of their high fracture resistance and clinical reliability. Long-term evaluation of these restorations is important for understanding their effectiveness and identifying factors influencing treatment success.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of metal-ceramic crowns and assess their impact on oral function and esthetic outcomes in patients undergoing prosthetic rehabilitation.

The study included 80 patients aged between 25 and 70 years requiring fixed prosthetic rehabilitation with metal-ceramic crowns. Clinical assessment was performed before treatment and during follow-up examinations after prosthesis placement. Parameters including marginal adaptation, gingival condition, chewing efficiency, occlusal stability, esthetic appearance, and patient satisfaction were evaluated. Statistical analysis was conducted to compare functional outcomes before and after treatment.

The findings demonstrated that metal-ceramic crowns significantly improved chewing function and restored normal occlusal relationships. Most patients reported improved comfort and satisfaction following treatment. Clinical examination revealed good marginal adaptation and favorable periodontal tissue response around the restorations. Esthetic results were satisfactory in most cases, with minimal complications during follow-up evaluation. Long-term assessment showed stable prosthetic function and satisfactory durability of the restorations.

Metal-ceramic crowns remain an effective and reliable treatment option in orthopedic dentistry. Their mechanical strength, durability, and acceptable esthetic properties contribute to successful oral rehabilitation and improved patient quality of life. Proper treatment planning and clinical execution are essential for achieving favorable long-term outcomes.
